Leap Motion, Google Glass, Optimus Popularis...

It seems that design is actually happening again in technology. Looking at the last 20 years of new products, very few of them have actually been revolutionary. In the last decade, the iPhone is probably the most prominent, followed by the Kinect, and Kindle but almost everything else is a copy of them, including the iPad, Mac Book Air, Android and all the other ones.

This year seems to be the year of new interactions.

Leap Motion: Kinect 100x smaller and 100x more accurate which can be integrated into any laptop.

Google Glass: GoPro+Android+Instant Message+Video Conferencing all wirelessly.

Optimus Popularis: Keyboard that changes its keys based on the context of what you are doing.

Siri and Google Voice Search: Computer dictation that really works, hooked up to enough information to make it useful.

Most of these are not out yet, but they seem to be hinting that more and more novel, but actually usable, input devices which will significantly change how we interact with computers.

If the last decade was about becoming connected, this next decade is definitely about interacting.
